Serving Garforth & LS25

Vinyl Flooring for Garforth Homes

Sandal Carpets is an independent flooring shop at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, around eleven miles from Garforth. We've supplied and fitted floors for over thirty years and carry sheet vinyl alongside carpet, LVT, laminate and artificial grass.

Sheet vinyl is the least forgiving floor we sell to measure, and it is worth understanding why. It comes off a roll in fixed widths, it is cut to the shape of your room, and it cannot be stretched or made longer. Get the measure wrong and the material is wasted — there is no trimming your way out of it. That is the main reason we insist on measuring every job ourselves rather than working from figures over the phone, and why the measure is free.

Rooms are also rarely the neat rectangles people assume. Walls bow, doorways create awkward returns, and a kitchen has units, an appliance recess and a threshold to work round. A proper template of those shapes is what produces a floor that sits tight to every edge instead of one with a gap behind the washing machine stuffed with sealant.

Once it is down, sheet vinyl earns its keep. It is fully waterproof, usually laid in one piece so there is no join for water to find, warm and soft underfoot compared with tile, and simple to keep clean. Cushioned and slip-resistant grades are available if comfort or grip matters in your house.

As with any thin floor covering, what is underneath shows through, so floorboards normally need hardboard or ply over them first and concrete may need a latex screed. We assess that at the measure and price it as its own line. We supply and fit throughout Garforth and the surrounding area, including Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Micklefield, Aberford, Swillington and Great Preston.

Why Choose Vinyl?

The Benefits of Vinyl Flooring

100% Waterproof

Vinyl is fully waterproof — it won't be damaged by water, spills or splashes. That makes it an ideal choice for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and hallways where moisture is a factor.

Warm & Cushioned Underfoot

Most sheet vinyl has a foam backing that cushions footfall and makes the floor noticeably warmer and quieter underfoot than stone, tile or even some hard flooring alternatives.

Effortless to Keep Clean

Vinyl wipes clean in seconds. Mop it, sweep it or wipe it down — it's as low-maintenance as flooring gets, making it popular with families, pet owners and anyone who wants a floor that looks after itself.

Great Value for Money

Vinyl flooring offers excellent quality at an accessible price point. It's a cost-effective way to transform a room — particularly kitchens and bathrooms — without the expense of ceramic tile or LVT.

Questions & Answers

Vinyl Flooring in Garforth — FAQs

Do you fit vinyl flooring in Garforth?
Yes. We supply and fit sheet vinyl throughout Garforth and the LS25 area, including Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Micklefield, Aberford and Great Preston. Our showroom is at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, about eleven miles away.
Can I measure the room myself and order the vinyl?
We'd rather you didn't, and it's not about the sale. Sheet vinyl is cut once from a roll of fixed width and cannot be stretched — an error means the material is scrap. Rooms are also rarely square, and doorways and kitchen units create returns that are easy to miss on paper. We measure free of charge precisely so that risk sits with us and not with you.
Will there be a join in the floor?
In most domestic rooms, no — sheet vinyl comes in widths that cover a typical kitchen or bathroom in one piece, which is a large part of its appeal in wet areas. Very large or awkwardly shaped rooms may need a join, and if that applies we'll tell you where it would fall before you order, not afterwards.
Is vinyl warm underfoot?
Warmer than tile or stone, and the cushioned grades noticeably so. It's one of the practical reasons people choose it for bathrooms and kitchens over a hard tiled floor, along with the fact that it's more forgiving if something gets dropped on it.
Does the subfloor need work first?
Usually some. Vinyl is thin and takes the shape of what's beneath, so board gaps, nail heads and old adhesive ridges will show through in time. Hardboard or ply over floorboards, or a latex screed over concrete, prevents that. We check it during the free measure and price it openly rather than adding it later.
Do you fit other flooring in Garforth?
Yes — carpet, LVT, laminate and artificial grass as well as sheet vinyl, right across Garforth and LS25. If you're doing more than one room it's worth pricing the whole job together.
