LVT Supply & Fitting

The Look of Real Wood or Stone, Without the Drawbacks

Luxury vinyl tiles — or LVT — have become one of the most popular flooring choices for Wakefield homeowners, and it's easy to see why. They look and feel like real wood or stone but are fully waterproof, incredibly durable and far easier to live with day-to-day.

Sandal Carpets stocks LVT from trusted brands including Gaia and Likewise. Tony will help you choose the right product for your room — whether it's a kitchen that needs to handle water and heavy footfall, or a hallway that needs to look great for years to come.

LVT Flooring for Garforth Homes

Sandal Carpets is at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, around eleven miles from Garforth. We're independent, we've been supplying and fitting floors for over thirty years, and we carry LVT alongside carpet, laminate, sheet vinyl and artificial grass.

Of everything we sell, LVT is the floor we'd point at if the priority is longevity. It is a thick, dense vinyl plank with a wear layer over the top, stuck down to the subfloor rather than floating, and in a busy house it will outlast laminate comfortably. It is quieter underfoot than laminate too, and warmer than tile, which is why it tends to win when a hallway and a kitchen have to take everything the household throws at them.

The wear layer is the number to ask about. It is the clear top surface that takes the scratches, and it is what actually determines how long the floor keeps looking new — not the price, and not how convincing the wood grain is in the showroom. A thicker wear layer in a hallway is money well spent; in a spare bedroom it is money you don't need to spend. We'll tell you which is which.

LVT is also compatible with underfloor heating, and being fully waterproof it is a sound answer for kitchens, utilities and bathrooms where laminate would be a risk. Where it asks more of you is the subfloor: because it is thin and glued down, everything underneath telegraphs through, so it usually needs overboarding or a latex screed first. That is genuine cost and we set it out plainly on the quote rather than burying it.

We supply and fit throughout Garforth and the surrounding area, including Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Micklefield, Aberford, Swillington and Great Preston.

Why Choose LVT?

The Benefits of Luxury Vinyl Tiles

Fully Waterproof

LVT is completely waterproof — making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and utility rooms. Spills, splashes and damp don't affect it, and it won't swell or warp like real wood.

Realistic Wood & Stone Looks

Modern LVT is incredibly convincing. Advanced embossing and printing technology creates textures and patterns that closely replicate oak, slate, stone and other natural materials.

Built to Last

Quality LVT is designed to withstand heavy footfall for 20 years or more. A tough wear layer protects the surface from scratches, scuffs and everyday damage — perfect for busy family homes.

Comfortable & Compatible with Underfloor Heating

LVT is warmer underfoot than real stone or ceramic tiles, and most quality LVT products are fully compatible with underfloor heating — a practical advantage over many alternatives.

Questions & Answers

LVT Flooring in Garforth — FAQs

Do you fit LVT flooring in Garforth?
Yes. We supply and fit LVT and luxury vinyl tiles throughout Garforth and the LS25 area, including Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Micklefield, Aberford and Great Preston. Our showroom is at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, about eleven miles away.
How long does LVT last?
Longer than laminate in the same spot, which is usually why people choose it. The figure that matters is the thickness of the wear layer — the clear surface over the design — because that is what takes the scratches. Ask about it rather than judging by price alone, and put the thicker specification where the traffic actually is.
Is LVT better than laminate?
For kitchens, hallways, utilities and bathrooms, generally yes — it is waterproof, more durable and quieter underfoot. For a bedroom on a tight budget, laminate can be the sensible choice and we'll say so. They're different tools; we'd rather match the floor to the room than push you at the dearer option by default.
Can LVT go over underfloor heating?
Yes, LVT works well with underfloor heating — it conducts heat readily and stays comfortable underfoot. There are temperature limits to observe and the subfloor still has to be prepared properly, so tell us at the measure if you have it and we'll specify accordingly.
Why does the subfloor need so much preparation?
Because LVT is thin and glued down, it follows the surface beneath exactly. Floorboard lines, screw heads and dips all show through once light falls across the floor. Overboarding with ply or laying a latex screed is what prevents that. It is real work with a real cost, so we quote it as its own line rather than letting it appear as a surprise.
Do you fit other flooring in Garforth?
Yes — carpet, laminate, sheet vinyl and artificial grass as well as LVT, right across Garforth and LS25. If you're doing more than one room it's worth pricing the whole job at once.
