LVT Supply & Fitting

The Look of Real Wood or Stone, Without the Drawbacks

Luxury vinyl tiles — or LVT — have become one of the most popular flooring choices for Wakefield homeowners, and it's easy to see why. They look and feel like real wood or stone but are fully waterproof, incredibly durable and far easier to live with day-to-day.

Sandal Carpets stocks LVT from trusted brands including Gaia and Likewise. Tony will help you choose the right product for your room — whether it's a kitchen that needs to handle water and heavy footfall, or a hallway that needs to look great for years to come.

Serving Woodlesford & LS26

Luxury Vinyl Tiles for Woodlesford Homes

Sandal Carpets is an independent flooring shop at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, about eight miles from Woodlesford. We've supplied and fitted floors across LS26 and the surrounding district for over thirty years, and LVT is one of five ranges we carry alongside carpet, laminate, sheet vinyl and artificial grass.

LVT — luxury vinyl tile — comes as individual planks or tiles rather than a roll or a click-together board, and that is what makes it different. Because each piece is separate and stuck down to the floor, it can be laid in patterns that other floors simply cannot do: herringbone, brick bond, a border running round the edge of a room, or wood-effect planks in one area running into stone-effect tiles in another with a clean junction between them.

It is also fully waterproof and genuinely hard-wearing, which is why it ends up in kitchens, hallways, utilities and bathrooms as often as it does in living rooms. Unlike laminate there is no swelling risk at the joints, and unlike sheet vinyl a damaged plank can usually be lifted and replaced without redoing the whole floor.

The catch, and we'd rather say it upfront, is that LVT demands a properly prepared subfloor. It is stuck down and it is thin, so anything underneath shows through — every ridge, screw head and dip. That usually means overboarding with ply or putting down a latex screed first. It is real work and it carries a real cost, and pretending otherwise is how people end up with a floor that looks lumpy under the light. We assess it as part of the free measure and price it openly.

We supply and fit throughout Woodlesford and the villages nearby, including Oulton, Rothwell, Swillington, Methley, Mickletown and Allerton Bywater.

Why Choose LVT?

The Benefits of Luxury Vinyl Tiles

Fully Waterproof

LVT is completely waterproof — making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and utility rooms. Spills, splashes and damp don't affect it, and it won't swell or warp like real wood.

Realistic Wood & Stone Looks

Modern LVT is incredibly convincing. Advanced embossing and printing technology creates textures and patterns that closely replicate oak, slate, stone and other natural materials.

Built to Last

Quality LVT is designed to withstand heavy footfall for 20 years or more. A tough wear layer protects the surface from scratches, scuffs and everyday damage — perfect for busy family homes.

Comfortable & Compatible with Underfloor Heating

LVT is warmer underfoot than real stone or ceramic tiles, and most quality LVT products are fully compatible with underfloor heating — a practical advantage over many alternatives.

Questions & Answers

LVT Flooring in Woodlesford — FAQs

Do you supply and fit LVT in Woodlesford?
Yes. We supply luxury vinyl tiles and arrange professional fitting throughout Woodlesford and the LS26 area, including Oulton, Rothwell, Swillington, Methley and Allerton Bywater. Our showroom is at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, roughly eight miles away.
What is the difference between LVT and luxury vinyl tiles?
They are the same thing — LVT is simply the abbreviation. You'll also see it called luxury vinyl flooring or vinyl plank. It comes as individual planks or tiles that are stuck down to the subfloor, as distinct from sheet vinyl, which comes off a roll, and laminate, which clicks together and floats.
Can LVT be laid in a herringbone pattern?
Yes, and it is one of the real advantages of it. Because LVT is made up of separate planks it can be set out in herringbone, brick bond, or with a contrasting border. Patterns take longer to fit and use more material through cutting, so they cost more than a straight lay — we'll price both so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
Does the floor need preparing before LVT is fitted?
Almost always, and it is the part worth understanding before you commit. LVT is thin and stuck down, so it takes the shape of whatever is beneath it — boards, ridges and dips all show through once the light catches it. Preparing the subfloor properly, usually with ply or a latex screed, is what separates a good LVT floor from a poor one. We check it during the free measure and price it as its own line on the quote.
Is LVT waterproof enough for a kitchen or bathroom?
Yes. LVT is fully waterproof, which is why it suits kitchens, utilities, hallways and bathrooms. It is one of the clearest advantages it has over laminate, which can swell at the joints if water sits on it.
What happens if a plank gets damaged?
Usually a single plank can be lifted and replaced without touching the rest of the floor — another advantage over sheet vinyl, where a bad tear often means redoing the room. It's worth keeping a few spare planks back from the original batch, as exact shades can change between production runs, and we'll suggest that when you order.
