LVT Supply & Fitting

The Look of Real Wood or Stone, Without the Drawbacks

Luxury vinyl tiles — or LVT — have become one of the most popular flooring choices for Wakefield homeowners, and it's easy to see why. They look and feel like real wood or stone but are fully waterproof, incredibly durable and far easier to live with day-to-day.

Sandal Carpets stocks LVT from trusted brands including Gaia and Likewise. Tony will help you choose the right product for your room — whether it's a kitchen that needs to handle water and heavy footfall, or a hallway that needs to look great for years to come.

Serving Horbury & WF4

LVT Flooring for Horbury Homes

Sandal Carpets is an independent flooring shop about four miles from Horbury, at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield. We've supplied and fitted floors across WF4 and the wider district for over thirty years, and LVT sits alongside carpet, laminate, sheet vinyl and artificial grass in the showroom.

The question we get asked most often about LVT is whether it is worth the extra over laminate, and the honest answer is that it depends entirely on the room. LVT is stuck down, fully waterproof, quieter underfoot and more durable. Laminate floats over an underlay, costs less, goes down faster and does a perfectly good job in a bedroom. Neither is simply better — they suit different jobs, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling rather than advising.

Where LVT clearly wins is anywhere water gets involved. A kitchen, a utility, a downstairs loo or a bathroom will find the weak point in a laminate floor eventually, because laminate has a board core that swells if water sits in a joint. LVT has no such problem. It also wins in a hallway that takes constant traffic, and it handles underfloor heating well.

Where laminate often makes more sense is upstairs, on a budget, in rooms that stay dry — and in any room where the subfloor is uneven, because a floating floor is far more forgiving of that than a glued-down one. LVT needs a properly flat base, which usually means ply or latex screed first, and that is real cost on top of the material.

We measure every Horbury job ourselves before anything is ordered, free of charge, and check the subfloor at the same visit so you know what you are dealing with before you commit. We supply and fit throughout Horbury, Horbury Bridge, Horbury Junction, Netherton, Middlestown, Sitlington and Ossett.

Why Choose LVT?

The Benefits of Luxury Vinyl Tiles

Fully Waterproof

LVT is completely waterproof — making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and utility rooms. Spills, splashes and damp don't affect it, and it won't swell or warp like real wood.

Realistic Wood & Stone Looks

Modern LVT is incredibly convincing. Advanced embossing and printing technology creates textures and patterns that closely replicate oak, slate, stone and other natural materials.

Built to Last

Quality LVT is designed to withstand heavy footfall for 20 years or more. A tough wear layer protects the surface from scratches, scuffs and everyday damage — perfect for busy family homes.

Comfortable & Compatible with Underfloor Heating

LVT is warmer underfoot than real stone or ceramic tiles, and most quality LVT products are fully compatible with underfloor heating — a practical advantage over many alternatives.

Questions & Answers

LVT Flooring in Horbury — FAQs

Do you supply and fit LVT in Horbury?
Yes. We supply LVT and luxury vinyl tiles and arrange professional fitting throughout Horbury and the WF4 area, including Horbury Bridge, Horbury Junction, Netherton and Middlestown. Our showroom is at 94 Barnsley Road in Wakefield, about four miles away.
Should I choose LVT or laminate?
It comes down to the room. LVT for anywhere water is involved — kitchens, utilities, bathrooms — and for hallways that take heavy traffic, because it's waterproof, tougher and quieter. Laminate for dry rooms on a tighter budget, and where the subfloor is uneven, since a floating floor copes with that far better than a glued-down one. We'll give you a straight answer for your room rather than a default.
Is LVT worth the extra cost?
In the right room, yes — it lasts longer and won't fail around water. In a dry spare bedroom, honestly, probably not, and we'd tell you to put the money into a better carpet or laminate instead. Bear in mind the total cost includes preparing the subfloor, which LVT needs more of than laminate does.
How long does an LVT floor take to fit in Horbury?
The fitting itself is usually a day or two for a typical downstairs. What extends it is subfloor preparation — ply or latex screed has to go down and be sound before anything is stuck to it, and screed needs drying time. We'll set out the timescale at the quote so you can plan around it.
Is the measure free for Horbury homes?
Yes. Once you've chosen a range in the showroom we'll arrange a free home measure at a time that suits you, assess the subfloor while we're there, and give you a clear written quote including preparation and fitting. No charge and no obligation.
Can LVT be fitted in a bathroom?
Yes — it's fully waterproof and a sound choice for bathrooms, cloakrooms and utilities. Sheet vinyl is the other option worth considering there, as it has fewer joins across the floor. We'll talk through both rather than assuming which you'd prefer.
